By reducing the glare caused by horizontal reflections, polarized lenses provide a dramatically greater degree of visual comfort in sunny or highly lit situations.
Fishing enthusiasts have used polarized "clip-ons" for years. Polarized lenses allow you to look "through" the surface of a still body of water- allowing you to see the bottom of the pond or stream (and the fish within).
Polarized lenses come in two to three degrees of tint in a variety of colors (grey and brown being the most popular). Polarization is generally a $60 add-on, but this includes a UV blocker and scratch coating. Polarization is very easy to demonstrate, and patients who try polarization usually demand it on all future pairs of sunglasses. The Eyesite can fabricate your polarized lenses on-location- we use the latest, cast-molded polarized lenses.
The only contra-indication for polarization involves pilots using certain types of instrumentation. Aviation instrumentation is sometimes vertically polarized, and will appear to be blank through a horizontally polarized lens.
